Raymond Wallace Perry has not been seen or heard from since he went missing from his Munising, Michigan-area residence on August 23, 2006.

His rural home—which he shared with his wife of 65 years—is located along the east side of Monette Road in Alger County's Munising Township.

Monette Road is a nearly-mile-long, dead-end road running north off of CR H-58, some five miles east of Munising.

Located just west of the Miners River in the buffer zone of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, the area Perry went missing in is characterized by stands of northern hardwoods, steep slopes, and lowland areas.

He was last seen by a home health-care nurse who visited his home around noon on Tuesday, August 22.

When the nurse returned about the same time the following day, Perry's wife Myrtle indicated she thought he'd gone to the hospital.

Raymond was 85 years old at time of his disappearance.

Stricken with Alzheimer's disease (AD), like his wife, he suffered from poor eyesight as well as other medical maladies that limited his mobility.

A white male with blue eyes and short, gray hair, he is described as being approximately 5-foot, 8-inches tall and about 140 pounds in weight.

Raymond has a medium build, a medium complexion, and no facial hair.

At the time he went missing, he was thought to be wearing a long-sleeved, plaid shirt; dark-colored blue jeans with blue, one-inch-wide suspenders; dirty white, low-cut, size 10, tennis shoes; and probably a tan or light-brown baseball cap.

He did not have his prescription glasses, wallet, watch, ring, or dentures with him when he went missing.

Raymond's family reported him missing to the Alger County Sheriff's Department in Munising, Michigan at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23.

The Sheriff's Department conducted a lengthy, search-and-rescue operation in an effort to locate Raymond.

Despite their best efforts—including exhaustive grid searches with dozens of foot searchers, K-9 teams, vehicles, and aerial assets—they were unable to locate Raymond in the rugged, heavily-wooded area around his Monette Road home.

The Alger County Sheriff's Department was assisted in their search for Raymond by Perry family members, friends, neighbors, and several area agencies:

Michigan Department of Corrections Emergency Response Teams (ERTs) from both the Alger Maximum Correctional Facility and Camp Cusino
Eastern Upper Peninsula Search and Rescue (EUPSAR)
National Park Service, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
Munising City Police Department, Munising, Michigan
Delta County Sheriff's Department K-9 Team
Kalkaska County Sheriff's Office K-9 Team
Michigan State Police Negaunee Post K-9 Team
United States Coast Guard

The Sheriff's Department continues to investigate Perry's disappearance.

The case "hasn't been forgotten," Deputy Sheriff Steven Blank told the Mining Journal (Marquette, Michigan) on August 30, 2008. "The case is still open and we're following up on leads when we get them."

Raymond Wallace Perry has not been seen or heard from since he went missing from his rural, Monette Road home on August 23, 2006. If you have seen him, know his current whereabouts, or have any information regarding his disappearance, please contact the authorities immediately.

Raymond Wallace Perry was born in Munising, Michigan on June 5, 1921.

He lived at his Monette Road home with his wife Myrtle for 35 years. His former home was located at the Tannery Hill location.

Raymond retired from Kimberly-Clark's Munising Mill in Munising, Michigan in the late 1980s. His 30-plus years of service earned him a gold watch.

The father of nine—four daughters and five sons—he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and raising farm animals, particularly cows.
