NOTICE: A body believed to be that of Jame's was found by a Michigan State Police K-9 handler on March 28, 2017, about 0.6 miles west of where his van was found abandoned. MibSAR offers heartfelt condolences to Jame's wife, Amanda, as well as the couple's children, extended family, and friends.
James' Obituary
Without a trace...
James Randolph Hepworth, age 37, a married father of 8 children from the Pentwater, Michigan area, was last seen leaving work, midway through his day shift, in Ludington, Michigan on August 1, 2016.
His disabled vehicle, a light blue 2001 Chrysler Town and County minivan with Michigan registration plate number DAG 2277, was recovered on August 7 along the south bank of the Pine River, in Wexford County's South Branch Township, about 35 miles from where he was last seen.
Despite extensive search-and-rescue operations by the following agencies and volunteers, Jame's whereabouts, and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, remains a mystery:

- Michigan Search and Rescue
- K-9 One Search and Rescue
- Maple Lane Bloodhounds
- Community volunteers
- Michigan Backcountry Search and Rescue (MibSAR)
