On Tuesday, February 23, 2010, Carly Dusseau of Ishpeming, Michigan called the Negaunee Post of the Michigan State Police (MSP) to report that her husband, Robert Anthony Dusseau, age 27, had not returned home from his business, Quik Cash and Guns LLC in Marquette Township.

The Quik Cash and Guns LLC outlet opened in November 2008, offering a place to buy, sell and trade firearms, along with serving as a second-hand store for electronics, sporting goods and other items.

The store was a second location of the business, which was started in Houghton seven years ago.
— February 25, 2010 issue of the Mining Journal (Marquette, Michigan)

According to his 26-year-old wife, Robert, normally closed his business at 5:00 p.m.

Upon arriving at Quik Cash and Guns LLC, 2612 US Highway 41 West in Marquette County's Marquette Township and making an initial check of the store, Troopers did not find anything suspicious.

However, Robert and his vehicle—a blue, 2007, four-door, hatchback, Pontiac Vibe—were nowhere to be found.

His vehicle remained unaccounted for until about 11:00 p.m., when it was spotted in the parking lot of the Birchwood Suites apartment complex at 2445 Werner Street in Marquette Township.

Surveillance camera footage showed a subject parking the car and walking from the area of Werner and Erickson streets.
— March 10, 2010 issue of the Mining Journal (Marquette, Michigan)

Situated along the south side of Werner Street, between Cox Avenue to the west and Erickson Drive to the east, the Birchwood Suites apartment complex is located about 0.25 miles due northeast of the Quik Cash and Guns LLC store.

After returning to the Quik Cash and Guns LLC store, troopers discovered Robert's body had been concealed within a snowbank adjacent to his business.

Further investigation revealed Robert had been shot, probably some time after 4:00 p.m.

In addition to his car being taken, several items were missing from his store.

Among the missing items were a quantity of cash, one long gun, one hand gun, one Swann DVR4-950 recorder, and one 8-inch monitor.

Based on witness information, an MSP forensic artist developed a composite sketch of an individual reportedly seen at the Quik Cash and Guns LLC store around 5:30 p.m. on the afternoon Dusseau's body was discovered.

Subject no. 1 was described as a white male between the ages of 35 and 45 who was about 5-foot, 10-inches tall.

Weighing between 200 and 220 pounds, he reportedly had brown hair covering ears and a closely-cropped goatee.

He was believed to have been wearing glasses, ones with either silver or gold rims.

Additional witness information led to the development of a composite sketch for a second individual who was seen at Dusseau's store around 5:00 p.m. on day he was fatally shot.

Subject no. 2 was described as a white male between the ages of 25 and 35.

He was reportedly wearing a tan-colored, hooded sweatshirt with a zipper down the front.

Police said the motive remains unclear.
— March 10, 2010 issue of the Mining Journal (Marquette, Michigan)
